Line Trade Card from 1916

Saint Bernard

This full color card was issued 108 years ago by Line in Switzerland. This beautiful card was originally produced as educational item for use in schools across Switzerland in conjunction with food manufacturers. Most would have been stuck into text books but this one has escaped relatively unscathed. The front of the card shows an artistic colored drawn picture of the Saint Bernard by the artist Joseph Porphyre Pinchon, while the back of the card is blank. This is an embossed card. The card measures c 3 3/8" x 2 3/8" or 85mm x 60mm. This is an extremely rare card. This card was glued in an album; it was removed as carefully as possible, but very slight damage on the back occurred, but still very collectable. Please see the scan.
